DMI offers you over 60 years of collective experience in prototype and production machining, along with expertise in efficient new product development and introduction.

A collaborative approach with engineering and drafting support helps you to reduce costs and improve product integrity. If you have the vision, but not the design, we’ll work with you to clarify and create it. We design and build fixtures and jigs and can work from electronic files, prints, verbal instructions, and sketches. Our skill with various metals and plastics helps you meet your requirements.

Our project management and manufacturing expertise, exceptional customer support, and scalable systems enable us to provide a comprehensive range of products and solutions. We perform custom machining and assembly and will facilitate additional services as agreed upon. Customers rely on our ability to quickly ramp-up to meet target dates and volume requirements.

Phillip A. Holman (Phil)

After a successful 36-year career as president of Fourstar Connections, a contract manufacturing company in Hudson, MA, Phil is using his skills to help grow and expand the capabilities of Diversified Machining. His vision is to continue to develop capabilities inside Diversified and through affiliations, to support new product introductions (NPI), and design for manufacturability (DFM). All of this, while building a culture driven to achieve high levels of customer service.

Prior to starting Fourstar in 1986, Phil began his career working as a quality manager for a contract manufacturing company, and then went on to manage a start-up company as VP of operations, building automatic test equipment and bed-of-nails test fixtures. In 1981, he came back into the contract manufacturing industry as VP/ general manager of a cable assembly shop that grew over time to become a significant player in the New England market as a tier-two contract electronics manufacturer (CEM).

Phil and his wife Linda have four adult children, Sarah, Brian, Sean, and Cassie, and also five grand-children and one great-grandchild. In his spare time, Phil is actively involved in his community supporting multiple fundraisers, including the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN), a Worcester-based program that provides housing to families that are temporarily without a home. Phil also volunteers his time as a member of the Outreach Ministry Leadership Team for First Church in Sterling, MA.

Chet MacDonald

Chet is the founder of Diversified Machining, which began business in 1992. He and his business partner Bob Mitchell had worked together at King Instruments for 16 years, and decided they wanted to go out on their own. They started Diversified … and their first customer was King Instruments. In 2021, Bob sold his share of the business to Phillip Holman. Chet brings 38 years of machining experience to the company.

When Chet is not working at Diversified Machining, he enjoys snowmobiling, golfing, and boating. Chet is married and has three adult children, and four grandchildren.

Brian P. Holman

Brian has spent his entire career in manufacturing and brings with him extensive experience in logistics,his most recent position being a senior buyer at Genuine Cable Group in Leominster, MA. He was instrumental in his roles at Fourstar Connections as purchasing manager and in the valuable time he spent in shipping and receiving and production control and scheduling. The insight and planning strategies he brings to the table are valuable on countless levels.

Brian has always believed in creating strong partnerships with his supply chain relationships, and is highly respected in the industry as a man of his word. He is deeply motivated to provide a high level of customer service and excels at it. He embraces technology to increase efficiencies and raise productivity, and is proficient with Oracle ERP and Sage 100 ERP.

He and his longtime girlfriend Sandy have four children, Andrew, Jocelyn, Parisha, and Junior, who range from the youngest, Andrew at 6 years old, to 26-year-old Junior.

When he is not on the job, he enjoys summer activities—fishing and boating, among them—and is a huge fan of Boston sports. He particularly enjoys just getting together with friends and family for a cookout or just hanging out and relaxing.

Robert Warner, Shop Foreman

Rob is a highly skilled and experienced machinist with over three decades in the industry, having embarked on his career after graduating from vocational high school in Worcester, where he specialized in machine tool technology. Since his graduation in 1989, Rob has dedicated himself to mastering the intricacies of machining, working with various materials and technologies across multiple sectors, including aerospace, military, automotive, and more.

Throughout his career a seasoned expert in machining and electromechanical solutions, Rob has honed his expertise in all types of machining processes—milling, lathing, grinding—and has taken on increasingly responsible roles in management since the mid-2000s. He proudly holds the title of Class A machinist, capable of programming, tooling, and overseeing the entire manufacturing process from blueprint to finished product. Rob’s extensive knowledge allows him to effectively tackle complex challenges, ensuring that every project is executed with precision and care.

In his current role, Rob manages operations while fostering a collaborative environment that empowers newer team members to thrive. He is passionate about continuous improvement and embraces the rapid technological advancements in the field. His enthusiasm for problem-solving is matched by his dedication to quality; he ensures that every product meets and exceeds industry standards. His benchmark for excellence includes manufacturing aesthetically pleasing parts with a quick turnaround that meet the most stringent quality and tolerance standards. He is proud of his contributions to critical projects throughout his career, some of which include components for the Ford Godzilla engine and parts for unmanned military fighter jets. His commitment to excellence and proactive leadership make him an invaluable asset to the team and a trusted partner in delivering high-quality electromechanical solutions.

Rob’s work ethic is fueled by his philosophy that efficient and quality-driven machining not only brings success to the business but also has a meaningful impact on people’s lives. He looks forward to continuing to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of machining and to supporting his colleagues and clients with every project.

Dan Winchester, New Product Development Manager

Dan is a versatile machining professional with a passion for innovation, bringing a unique blend of mechanical know-how and design experience to the table. Though his formal background in machine shops is relatively new, his passion for mechanics and relentless curiosity have equipped him with the skills necessary to thrive in this competitive field. Dan’s journey began with his eight-year tenure at Xerox, where he developed a strong foundation in high-volume copier maintenance and repair, specifically with the DocuTech models. During this time, he absorbed knowledge whenever technicians arrived onsite, learning to troubleshoot and fix machines under pressure to meet strict deadlines.

Following his tenure at Xerox, Dan took a significant step forward by mastering AutoCAD, which opened the door to an exciting decade in trade show exhibits. In this role, he specialized in 3D modeling and technical drawing, where precision and attention to detail were paramount. He successfully created assembly drawings that were accurate and crucial for the smooth setup and breakdown of complex exhibits. This experience culminated in him starting his own sign shop, where he spent 12 years manufacturing signs: managing projects, honing his leadership and project management skills, and running various machinery, including CNC and laser machines.

Upon joining the team at Diversified, he quickly became an essential part of the shop’s operations. His background in project management and design allows him to bring fresh perspectives on efficiency and organization. Working alongside Rob, Dan leverages his experience in SolidWorks to improve shop efficiency and optimize workflow through better file organization and quoting processes. His commitment to learning the intricacies of programming and manufacturing, combined with his enthusiasm for innovative solutions, positions him as a valuable asset to the organization.

With a firm belief in collaboration and teamwork, Dan fosters a positive shop environment, ensuring that every team member contributes to the company and customers’ collective success. His proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement is reflected in his efforts to streamline operations and reduce setup times, ultimately enhancing the quality of products delivered to customers.
